Oh, what fun I have making these beads! I've always enjoyed making all types of Eye bead. They're a bit of a Redhotsal take on the Turkish Evil Eyes that you may see in the Middle East.  While I'm not particularly superstitious about the Evil eye I find it fascinating that the Eye seems to be a common feature in so many cultures - you even see an all-seeing eye on the dollar bill. Besides, glass eyes are just so much fun to make, and they look scarily life-like in glass!

So, whether you are wanting an eye to ward off evil or an eye to keep watch over you, then this is the Eye you're looking for, so to speak.....

This Eye is very decorative - I've used radial lines of lustred glass to srround the eye on a rich ivory base. The lustre is actually very gold-looking in reality - although it doesn't show up well in the photos. The bead measures 37mm in diameter, minus the "bobbles" on the edge, and of course the pattern is on both sides. The bead hole measures 1.6mm.

I must say however, I've made quite a few of these over the years and I've also broken a couple. People can't resist picking them up to have a look but they really don't survive well if you drop them...(well, they are made of glass, afterall.)  I have dropped quite big beads over my career and gotten away with not breaking them, but because there are so many fiddly surface features on this bead it is a little more fragile than my usual glass ware.

This is a pretty little cranberry red hollow vessel which I've handmade ready for you to fill with a little of your favourite things; some perfume, essential oil, sparkly crystals or a little secret keepsake, perhaps? I've added some metallic lustred studs for an air of mystery!

The neck of the vessel measures just over 5mm and I've provided a little wooden stopper to keep the contents safe. The vessel is about 30mm in length.

I really love making this style of focal bead right now and I also love the "Marrakech" colours. I currently have a few beads in this style for sale at the moment.

This focal bead is very ornate with lots of raked dots, flowers and lustred studs. I've made this bead with a larger hole (3mm) so you could use this as a lamp pull if you want. The bead itself measures approximately 40mm in length.

I wanted to make a round medallion version of my "Marrakech" Lantern beads, which I'm a little obsessed with, right now!

This round lentil shaped focal is quite large - measuring about 35mm in diameter. The bead hole is 2.4mm. The base colour of this focal is an antique ivory but the lustred glass has fumed this colour into a rich caramel. The pattern is the same on both sides.
